Detailed description of Tartan Park Golf Course, CLOSED 2015

Tartan Park Golf Course, previously Private, now semi-private, is a 27 hole golf golf facility located in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. Tartan Park Golf Course has three 9-hole golf courses. These courses can be combined in pairs to form three different 18 hole course challenges. The nine-hole courses are The Red Course, The White Course, and The Blue Course.

The Tartan Park Golf Courses opened in 1965. The courses were designed by Don Herfort. Dick Nugent designed eleven new holes in 1986.

The 27-hole championship Tartan Park golf course is a fully certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary and is open to 3M Club members, retirees, their spouses and guests. Tartan Park Golf Course serves as the home course for the Concordia University men's and women's golf teams.

The club offers the Blue, White, and Red courses. Each course offers different challenges for golfers.

The Blue course has water that comes into play in over half of its holes, while the fairways are very wide, and the greens are large.

The White course is surrounded by three area lakes that come into play. This course also provides golfers with wide fairways. The White course will challenge golfers on their approach as it was designed with very small greens

The Red Course has the least amount of water in play, but it does offer tree-lined fairways and strategically-placed bunkers

The scenery is magnificent, but the real beauty of Tartan Park Golf Course lies in the challenge. Multiple sets of tees provide competition for every skill level. Fairways and undulating greens place a premium on accuracy. Throughout the course, the open-entry greens provide maximum flexibility under variable conditions.

The course closed in May 2015.

It was announced in March 2016 that the 3M Co. has sold its struggling 483-acre Tartan Park Golf Course to a national sporting group that promises to turn it into the area’s premier public golfing destination.

Annika Sorenstam and Arnold Palmer will redesign the current 27 holes at Tartan Park into 18 holes with an opening scheduled for 2017.

Plans call for Tartan Park to be renamed the Royal Golf Club at Lake Elmo. The course will be called The King and Queen.
